We are going with friends and staying at the Gran Caribe Real for the week of 04/05/08 (I know, I know, spring break), but I was wondering about the beach erosion situation.

Is there any beach to be had at this resort? We were there in 2005 and their beach area was absolutely gorgeous. There was plenty of beach in front of their villa section. Is that no longer?

You can use the amenities at their sister resort, Gran Porto Real in Playa as well. Did anyone here do that, and how did you like it. I've been to the Gran Porto Real as well, and the beach was just okay. Very crowded.

We're still going to have a good time no matter what. Any other info and tips you'd like to share would be great.
